  the other day i was on the phone with my mother.

  she lives about 20 minutes from the rest of the family.

  she'll be 73 in november.

  What you said was exactly right ......your a very loving daughter . It must have hurt to hear her say that ,but ....she was just venting her unhappiness that you are no longer a JW .

  It is sad because when the time comes that she needs that type of care the Brothers and Sisters WILL NOT be as she thinks . I have heard Elders tell family that their faithful Elderly ones WERE their responsibility not the congregations . For yrs my Mom helped take single sisters and sisters with UBM to conventions .When she became disabled no one could be bothered to help her .

  well, folks, this little mermaid just got back from the sad she had to attend w/her husband so as to keep a measure of peace (we're in the process of working out compromises...you know how it goes) i was pretty mad by the end of the day (thank god it ended at 4:00) mostly because i learned some new things that i would never have guessed in a million years.. did you know that satan is setting up artificial "refuges" as a counterfeit to jehovah's "true refuge"which is...his organization???

  now satan's "false refuges" are pretty damn bad, like, for instance, "independent thinking.

  " no, siree bob, we don't want none of that!!

  One of the last assemblies I went to had a experience given by a young man that gave up his scholarship to Pioneer . Because that is the BEST way of life . I literally wanted to stand up and SCREAM !!! Then in our own hall a young woman that had been an honor student went and did the same thing following the 'good example' set before her ......

  Several of the young ones since then have at least gone to two yr college programs or gotten through certificate programs .

  I really felt sorry one young woman in our hall .She was determined to become a Physical Therapist and it takes a little over four yrs of school and clinicals . I heard the Elders trying to discourage her all the time she was going to school ! Parts on the local needs were directed to discredit long college degrees . She was ridiculed for her dating and clothing anything to pick on her IMO....She toughed it out got her education and now has a good job . Bet the Elders are glad now she can contribute more because of that extra money ! .........The sad thing is she is completely hardened into making sure she is a super dub ,maybe just to prove them wrong ,IDK ......I had hoped she would have woken up after all that she went through .

  so today was my first sunday meeting that i didn't go with my wife.

  as an update she has decided not to move out right now...because she doesn't have anywhere to go.

  but she is giving me the silent treatment.

  ZOIKS has the correct answer IMHO .

  You are underestimating your 5 yr old Brotherdan . He comprehends way more than you think otherwise he would not be asking you so intently . He is asking because he IS troubled . I remember being 5 and knowing my unbeleiving Dad was bad for not going to meetings ! And anxious and worried about him dying . You need to give a clear answer so he understands it is not something he had any control over, and that you having a different belief than Mom is okay too.

  Don't let them (those at the hall and the stuff he hears from the stage ) be the only thoughts he learns to think about in the new family situation .

  Zoiks has an excellant reply for a child that age ,it allows them to learn we all have free choices to make . Choices do not make anyone bad or better just different .

  At his age your reassurance will have to be repeated often ! Count on it . You may have to explain to him many times because I guarantee he is going to hear otherwise a multitude of times at the hall and from your wife .

  I have always liked to draw and make things . When my kids were little I did wood crafts and country /primative painting . Then about twelve yrs ago I really got involved in Photography . I did weddings and Senior pics and such . Had a good business going for about five yrs ,but when I left the Witnesses I just lost interest in starting a new client base . So now I just do Photography for friends and for fun .

  I am the most happiest when I am creating something . Right now I am looking for ideas to make something I can sell . My husband keeps telling me to make calendars or post cards of some of my nature pictures . I just have not found a good way to make it profitable .....

  Anyone out here with any ideas I would appreciate suggestions !!

  To all those who who bang on elders who post here

  and had the audacity and hypocritical nerve to suggest that no elder could provide anything to this forum that couldn't be gotten else where, i started a thread a little over a day ago with a link that was entittled "ks 2010".

  that link has been clicked on 1,156 times in a little over 24 hours.

  thats almost once a minute every minute non stop.

  When I first left it was because I was just so unhappy being a Witness and I figured being out could not be any worse . What I found was peace of mind .I no longer had anxiety about this world ending anytime soon, and i found freedom to express myself for the first time in over forty years .

  I too had my moments of "But what if they are right ".....reading Ray Franz books help dispell those thoughts for me . I was brought up with knowledge of much of what Ray spoke of so it helped me . For you something else may be needed because you were exposed to a whole new generation of fear mongering ........

  I think looking back and realizing the history of the Org . for what it really is might help you see it for what it is .....A man unhappy with his religion ,Pastor Russell, took beliefs he liked and was comfortable with then added his own spin and made up a new religion . There was no direction from God no special enlightenment . This site has a wealth of knowledge for you to take from ...stick around read some think on it reason on it and then make a decision for yourself what sounds believable .

  Take your time go slow . It can be overwhelming deprograming all that you have learned to this point . I found not being exposed to the constant barage from the KH and assemblies that slowly the fear subsided . Now after five yrs it is hard to remember how scary those first few months were .
